Summertime In The City

I absolutely love living in the city, but it can be very different from the suburbs.  We live in midtown on a very busy street and not in a neighborhood.  Therefore we miss out on certain things like a pool.  So we make the most of it and have fun stuff outside to keep our very energetic toddler entertained.  We hope to join a pool down here this summer, but if not for some reason, watch out my friends (you know who you are) we will be tagging along with you! Get ready for a lot of play dates this summer! For now we love it here and the pros out weigh the cons at the moment. Declan seems to be happy and of course that is what is most important us :-)

Jason was home this weekend and it was so nice to not have any plans and be a family.  This is my busy time of year with the school year coming to an end and ESY starting up, so it is nice to have Jason here to help...plus I miss him so much when he is gone!

We went to a wedding for a wonderful friend of ours in Savannah last weekend.  It was so nice to spend the weekend with Jason and have some adult time.  He was working out of town in Brunswick, so I flew into Jacksonville and we headed to Savannah.  The wedding was BEAUTIFUL and we got to spend some time with great friends.  Kendra and Bryan let me ride back to Atlanta with them while Jason headed back to Brunswick.  It was very much appreciated and I love spending time with my BFF and catching up!  Love her!

My parents kept Declan and he was not even excited when I picked him up Sunday evening.  Would not leave my Mom's side.  Really?!  My feelings were a little hurt at first.  Then I realized how lucky he is and we are that he gets to spend that time with my parents. We did not worry about him for one second while we were gone.  My mom would send pictures and give us updates and it was very sweet.  Thank God for such wonderful parents!!!

 Our new best friend :-)
Love this one of my boys
 Bubbles!
 He LOVES chalk!
Chewing on foam that he is not supposed to have in his mouth...of course he thinks it is funny!
Having a chat.  Too cute!

Kind of a random all over the place post, but would you expect anything else from me?!  Ha Ha!

Almost 2?!

What the ....?!  Declan will be 21 months this week!  How did this happen?!  Let me just tell you...our little boy is FULL of personality.  He is having conversations with us and speaking in sentences.  He actually tells me what he did at "school" when I pick him up.  It is crazy how talkative and smart he is.  I'm absolutely amazed by him and the things that he says and does!  He is also very polite which makes me very happy...he gets that from his Dad, the southern gentleman.

Overall we have a very sweet little boy, but boy does he know how to throw a tantrum!  Wow! He used to wear a shirt that I bought him that said "my way or the highway."  Ha...I must have been able to predict the future.  Declan definitely likes to have what he wants when he wants it and is not afraid to tell you that.  Apparently this is "typical" of an almost two year old???  Or maybe we just have a very strong willed child?  Only time will tell.  We have also started potty training.  Not so much ready for that either...see picture below.  I freaking have potty trained so many of my students, but have a feeling Declan will be the most difficult of them all.  He is just not ready and I need to realize it.

I have spent the better half of my life teaching students, working with all different types of children, studied all about children in college and let me tell you...I am a damn good teacher.  I know all of the right things to do...in the classroom.  I am a way better teacher (and if you are an educator...especially a special educator than you know what I'm talking about) than I am a Mom.  Definitely the hardest job ever, but also the best one!  I love our little boy more than words!!!  I could just eat him up!

 Yes...that is poop.  "Uh oh, Mommy...make a mess...so sorry"
 mmmm
Yep.  Standing in the chair after I asked him not to.
Looking at me like "What are you gonna do?"  "I'm still standing."
His favorite thing to do EVERYDAY...rain or shine.

We have the best time outside together :-)

Happy Mother's Day!

I had a nice Mother's Day with my boys.  They gave me the sweetest card and made me a wonderful breakfast and wait for it... I did not have to clean up.  If you know my husband then you know that is a Christmas Miracle.  I still love you, Honey :-)  The rest of my family was out of town and Jason had to leave yesterday to go back out of town.  I was missing everyone, but Declan kept me busy as usual.

If you keep up with this blog you know what an amazing Mother I have.  Hands down, she is the BEST.  Nope...your mom does not even hold a candle to her.  My mom is better than your mom!  Just kidding.  I am very lucky to have such an incredible mom and honestly have NO idea what I would do without her.  I want to be just like her when I grow up :-)  I love you, Mom and appreciate you so much!!!

Congrats Uncle Chris and Aunt Lauren!

It has been awhile since I have blogged.  Shame on me!  Jason is back to traveling and I have been slammed with The DEW and wrapping up the end of the year and starting summer school.  Phew!  Not tyring to sound like "Mary Martyr," just busy.  Don't worry...our lives have not been that eventful so you haven't missed anything.  Ha ha!
We went to a housewarming party last weekend for Chris and Lauren.  They just bought a house in Sugar Hill and it is absolutely perfect for them and BEAUTIFUL!  I am so proud of them and so happy for them.  My sweet brother-in-law did however over serve me.  I hate it when he does that!  We have the best time with Chris and Lauren and can't wait to have Declan have a spend the night at their new home.  Hint hint!
 Showing Aaron and Amy "Thomas."
 Lauren, Amy, and me
Crazy Uncle Chris will do anything to make his nephew laugh :-)
Brothers...and look nothing alike, but both very handsome :-)
Just hanging out....
